Best Dwarf Tomato?

Hi guys

I grow about 15 or so dwarf tomatoes in 5 litre pots going up the garden steps.

This year I tried sweet and neat, great tough little plant with loads of tomatoes but the taste is pretty bad, really mushy texture with a almost bitter aftertaste, nearly makes me gag

Are they any dwarf varieties (upto about 18"or so) that taste better?

I've grown red alert outside in containers, they are very bushy but the flavour was good.

I grow Maskotka in hanging baskets, early, prolific, tasty and open pollinated so you can seed save

We've always liked the tumbling varieties, although the trailing might be an issue up the steps.

Can support the Red Alert comment, grown for the first time this year, rather neglected, bountiful crop (although grown in the ground not pots) and very tasty. Must go and pick the ripe ones actually......

Ideally looking for non trailing types as my dog runs up and down the steps so anything trailing will not last! he's a newfoundland and weighs 12 stone!

How tall do the red alert grow?

I've grown red alert outside in containers, they are very bushy but the flavour was good.

I've grown red alert this year. Maximum they grew was 2ft, prolific and they were my only tomatoes not to succumb to blight.

Yes, mine were about 2ft tall, also 2ft wide, you definitely need to give them a little elbow room.
