I have a few of these small yellow disc type things growing on my plants that are about 2 " wide. Can I eat them ?

Yes, although earlier in the season I would leave them to grow to more like 3 or 4 inches diameter.
Mine are growing so slowly at the moment I'm taking them at 2 inches before the slugs are getting them.The proof of the growing is in the eating.
Leave Rotten Fruit.
Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potasium - potash.

If you cut the leaves off tomoto plants youbring the fruit on so why not with squashes? Shall i also give them some comfry?Comment

It doesn't make the tomatoes grow any bigger by cutting off the leaves, it lets the light get to them for ripening. Plants need leaves to photosynthesis.Originally posted by Marb67 View Post

Keep. A close eye on them Marb,cos the slugs like them, and go for the middle. I've harvested all of mine, some are very small, but nice roasted, the slugs did have quite a few this year. Why not use some now, 2 inches is fine.DottyRComment

They are not even 2 inches on closer inspection and some fall off easy. Watering every day but not making any difference.Comment

At this point I'd pick em off and eat them and bin the plant. The plants may well be slowing down now anyway with the decrease in light. I wouldn't be watering every day with the temperatures we have.http://mudandgluts.com - growing fruit and veg in suburbiaComment

Well i have had a great harvest of toms which have just about come to an end. Runner beans as always still going strong. Kale plants getting bigger so hope to be harvesting leaf veg through winter as they keep growing.Comment
