I had deep fried squash, beetroot & carrot chips with potato chips last night, they were really nice.....I like chips............brilliant crop Mr Bones.

Wow! How many plants did you grow? I'm envious of the sweet dumpling. Mine were doing really well until about two weeks ago when all the fruits either dropped off or rotted on the vine. I have no idea why. They were starting to ripen too! All my other plants were fine. There had been 15-20 on there too. Ah well. I shall enjoy the rest of my harvest. But not as much as you will! Great picture.

Absolutely fantastic, Martin!! The ones that look like Red Kuri on the right are such a beautiful colour, too. You'll be eating this lot until next year's harvest, I reckon.

We were amazed at the final count of 92 fruits from 17 plants (couldn't even remember how many I’d put in). They were given a good soaking when pocket planted then left to get on with it until harvest. From left to right are Turks Turban, Crown Prince, Sweet Dumpling and Uchiki Kuri. All have a lovely sweet, nutty flavour but haven’t tried the Crown Prince yet, this is a new one for us so hopefully saving the best ‘till last. The SD and UK were grown up goal post netting to save space and keep them clean though we did find them rambling away on the ground too.
Roasted first, perhaps the favourite dish is served with kale, goats cheese and toasted pine nuts (or is it with farm shop sausages or egg mayo on a bed of rocket or then again with chorizo or roast beetroot with horse radish, or maybe with kale and runny eggs...). Love also SD whole, stuffed with herby leeks and cheddar.
Some will find a good home with family; others shared with fellow allotmenteers for earlier gifts of their excess produce, what’s left I’m going to eat.

Great harvest Mr Bones! I harvested most of mine this evening, I still have 4 pumpkins and around 4 sweet dumplings to come yet!

This is nowhere near the size of other people's hauls, but it will keep us sorted through winter. And about half of them are hand-pollinated, so I've got masses of seed. *happy face*
