  • Broad Beans - Help

I lost a couple of my plants to the winds last night - they have lost their growing tips - will they still grow or do they need consigning to the composter

How big are they already? If they are already setting pods then you're okay, you can pinch out the tops of broad beans if they have black fly, so you should technically be okay with them. If worried, plant another crop and end up with a glut!

They only have a few leaves on them. I have just ordered some more seed just in case

I would think they might not grow any further but plant another crop and see.

They may branch from the next pair of leaves down from the break point Kimbo, if they do you can either take out the weakes "bud" and grew the other as if it were the original stem or leave them both on & see how it goes. The will probably set seed after the others anyway haveing been Stopped & may not crop quite so heavily as the others

They should be fine. It happened to me last year, they will just crop a bit later and indeed branch out from the next set of buds.
