    Hi All grapes,
    Please help me...

I notice that my corns are blooming some male flowers but so far I didn't see any female flowers.I plated them since early march and they are now over 2 meters high and their stems are 4.5 to 5 cm across. They suppose to produce baby corn ( the variety is hybrid).
As they are my first ever baby corn, I have no clue what should i feed them, I currently feed them general vegetables fertilizer ( 12-12-17 ) should I continue using the same fertilizer or change to certain other type ?

    Thanks in advance...

    Momol

They look just as they should do momol. Fine plants indeed.

If the soil was in reasonable nick you dont need to keep adding fertilizer to the ground, you will just end up with very soft growth that is ripe for pest and disease to attack. Just ensure that they are well watered and you will get a good crop of baby corn.

Great looking corn Momol. I think I'll be a long time waiting for mine to be that size - if ever. Where in the country are you ? You can go into personal profile and add it there if you want to.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

Whereabouts do you live, Momol? Your corn is way ahead of mine! The pollen from the male flowers at the top of the plant falls onto the "silks" at the end of the potential cobs. This is why sweetcorn is usually planted in blocks as the pollen then doesn't have to travel far. Good luck, they look fabulous so far. I wouldn't give any supplementary feed if your soil is reasonable.

Thanks guys and gals, now I can be relieved. I was worried because every time when we passes the corn field, we could only see 30 cm high corn and every body keep telling us that they are too early and it might not produce well as they are my first ever, I became concerned.
They are grown in the south facing corner, sheltered from strong wind.

I could have posted where I am, the thing is, it is a bit complicated... I am officially living in Belgium, we have an flat there plus my hubby works there but my corn were planted in our other house in the Netherlands where we have the luxury of a garden ( in Limburg province near Venlo, south of the Netherland, 5 minutes to German border and 20 minutes to Belgium ).I am actually posting pictures of both things grown in Belgium ( from our balcony ) and from the Netherland. Should I post my address in The Netherlands or Belgium ? I think they do share the same climate.

Thanks for all your encouraging words ... Momol

                Hi Shirley,

We are 2 or 3 minutes from Venlo (my parents inlaw lives there ), we live in Baarlo .
South Netherland does has beautiful landscape. We live close to the fruit orchards ( mainly for apples, cherries, pears and plums ) and there are many small scales farmers (they grow corn, wheat, canola, pumpkins, white asparagus...) and some part of them are green house farmers ( mainly for roses, strawberry, champignon, cucumber, salads, papricas... ).

We are having more and more eco tourist visiting our area due to that.
Send regards to your mother in law " groetjes "
