Can anyone tell me why my remaining leeks ( & I didn't have many to start with) have suddenly rotted away. One day they seemed fine, the next they had all fallen over & gone soft & squishy. Cutting one that was still reasonably firm open, the centre had brown streaks running through it. There didn't appear to be anything wrong from the outside. They are grownh in a raised bed. How can I prevent it happening next year?

Sounds like alium leaf miner to me, Angie. . We get it at the Hill - if you look at the bottom of the brown vertical streaks, you might well find a little brown bug. Looks like a brown tictac but smaller.

Link to the RHS site here for a factsheet.

Fleece or environmesh is the answer either way methinks.
