  • Dancing with Smurfs..........

I noticed a few people had entered DWS in the vine show. They look interesting and I fancy giving them a try.
Just wondered whether they were tasteful, were they prolific and what is their growth habit?

Hi Snadge I think people have a love hate relationship with them. Have a look at page 4 I think of http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...rve-vsp-4.html I will be trying them next year so not much help to you

Well, my kids love them and I will grow them again next year, very good harvest. They are still ripening in my GH...I find it difficult to describe taste, black cherry is my favourite!. If you want some seeds to try Snadger send me PM with your address.

I've just eaten one to remind myself!! Good robust flavour, skin not too thick or too thin. Fascinating colour changes. Quite prolific and still cropping in the GH.
Seeds in the VSP for anyone who wants to try them (probably from Scarlet )

Mine didn't come to much this year, they seemed to take an age to get going, I think I only had a handful. I had the best success this year with yellow pear and cuor di bue (I think thats how you spell it), both were prolific and quite tasty. My white queens though won hands down for me for flavour sweet and a perfect accompany to a fried breckkie.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

I was wondering the same thing. I have space for maybe 14, at a push, tomato plants. I'm torn between wanting to grow what I grew this year 'cause they ranged from quite nice to lovely and feeling like I should try other things. Anyway, I have loads of time to think about it...
