15 Weeks To Maturity

Hi, it's me again.............
As you know, I'm having a bash a harvesting at least 1 tattie every week for 52 weeks, so far so good but I am aware it's still early days.
I am now thinking forward to next year to try a different veg, I was thinking maybe carrots. I am looking for veggies that reach maturity in around 15 weeks. If you can give me any ideas, I would be grateful.

Paris Market - ball type took 10 - 16 this year. The ones that took the longest did so because I planted them too early and most of the seeds were lost to it being too cold.

Although my Kohl rabi have been in for in over six months now with no sign of swelling! The packet says fast maturing anyway!

Do you mean that sort of duration in summer or at a more challenging time of year? Am struggling to think of anything you'll have much luck with in January or are you growing with added heat and light?

Yes, challenging. I'm looking for something to crop in a flower bucket for 52 weeks as I am trying with the spuds. I am using 15 buckets hence the 15 week timescale. I can only think of trying carrots at the mo. During the cooler months, they will be in the tunnel with protection.

What about beans? French beans are quick (12-15wks I'd say), but might be too tender even for the PT. Self fertile too, so no pollination issues. I've grown a trough of them on the spare bedroom windowsill in Winter before, with success, but can't remember how long they took to grow pods.

Broad beans would be hardier, but longer to mature, I think.

Do you think spring onions would work? Or would they be too quick?

Quick is fine Ali, as I'm only using 15 buckets I don't want to go beyond 15 weeks to maturity.

French beans are very sensitive to cold so even in a PT I'd say you have little chance. I have some turnips in a big container sown in September which are still putting on weight outside so I'd certainly give them a go. Winter hardy lettuce and spring onions do well for me under glass through the winter. Trouble is they don't really grow during the winter....they just stay alive.
