I have never tried them but got some seeds anyway. They look like they would be happy in a flower border so they look pretty and are edible.
Opions please

I started some off in a few pots this year (several large flower buckets) I've given all but one away, judging by how good they grow you will never be without them! I've got a "cottage type" garden so I'll be planting mine there. I think allium flowers are gorgeous.
Thanks Scarlet
These are the kind of plants I like edible/pretty and probably bug friendly when in flower. I will start some in containers. The seeds I got said they were 'red' and I suppose that means the stems?
Can they get attacked by the maggots that munch through leeks?

They are red at the base/ bulby bit that isn't that bulby They can get attacked by bugs but as long as you grow strong healthy plants they will overcome it like most things. I always found them a great fuss free plant. Bees and hoverflies tend to like the flowers.
