Well, from what I can tell, loofahs like to grow up and so shouldn't take up too much space at ground level 
Plus, if I want to grow a competition winner, I'll probably restrict plant growth and number of fruits as well.
Don't despair just yet...I reckon come sowing time we'll have a few more competitors
