Well, from what I can tell, loofahs like to grow up and so shouldn't take up too much space at ground level
Plus, if I want to grow a competition winner, I'll probably restrict plant growth and number of fruits as well.

Don't despair just yet...I reckon come sowing time we'll have a few more competitors
    (when is sowing time?)

It's a very disciplined gardener who can stick to sensible spacings in March!

        So, Lisabolt!
(and will you be joining us VC and Feral?)

        How are your loofahs doing?
I found four (incredibly old....ten years?) seed.
        Three germinated.
One isn't looking well but is clinging on.....

I have decided to grow them up the front supports of my munty frame and have got them a large sack of manure each which I will dig in next week some time.
They have their first true leaves just about to emerge but are already looking a bit leggy.

Do we reckon they'll be fussy like cucumbers or tough like courgettes?

I've got an old packet of them somewhere in my seed stash too. I'm sure they are long past their official sow-by date, but if you got three of yours to germinate, muddled, maybe they are worth a try. Of course that doesn't help lisabolt with her loofah seed excess problem. But if they last ten years or more then maybe it isn't a problem, just lots of loofahs in her future life.

I am bad, very bad i haven't even planted my seed yet. Been so busy, and to be honest i pushed it to the side.

I will get my ass into gear and do later on.

            think i might loose
I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them
