Our chemists wont sell me the vast majority of cough medicines (although I can get them online) due to the sugar content and me being diabetic, There is a couple of grams of sugar in them, the fact that I ate an entire large toblerone bar the night before doesnt seem to change their minds. In fact maybe sweet shops should ask health questions before selling sweets, maybe they should refuse to sell hammers in case we beat the living daylights out of an old age pensioner!!
Also to keep on topic, maybe putting egg shells round the tomatoes might cause offense to poultry!

I do so hate this PC nanny state we are living in.

Chemists can be very different. I went to buy some IPA years ago to clean something, I got asked lots of questions and even then they were unsure. It was when I gave them the chemical formula and drew the molecular shape of it that they decided I probably had some idea of what it was.

The next time I was expecting more arguements at a different one, they simply asked if I wanted a half litre or a litre bottle.

          It's for hemorrhoids.

I also doubt that egg shells can be very effective in supplying calcium / lime, we used to dispose of hundreds of infertile eggs during the hatching process, we threw them into a pit, two years later they were still there. i dont think they break down particularly well. Better to use some lime or add tums indegestion tablets to the water i think.
