  • I attempted to fit the laminated glass to the greenhouse today, but then realised that I measured it incorrectly!

So, I am going to stick with plan A, and just replace with polycarb.

I ordered 10 sheets of it today from ebay, £40 inc p and p, cant be bad....

I also removed my rubbish little shed from the plot, making room for a new and improved one.....

Went to wilkinsons to see what stock they had in, they have everything! Although I did not buy anything, as it is a bit too early for me.

I will be buying some seed potatoes from there mid Feb

    • Sliced off some more turf from the paths between the beds. Have decided to try and get rid of the grass paths as they are full of couch grass which keeps invading the beds. In the spring I plan to sow the paths with clover. I had laid down cardboard on some paths and weighed down with bricks, but the ever-helpful badgers just tossed the bricks aside and scraped out the cardboard looking for tasty slugs, so the cardboard is shredded. Looks like I will have to strip the turf by hand. Also dug up some horseradish roots.

      • Put some wood dust on the path between the two main beds in the polytunnel and cut some piping for an additional flee e protected layer in there.

          • Repoted Lily into a larger pot and some compost, made a large feature bucket with grasses and feathers should look great when they spread out. I also took a shed down to be moved, got borage and sunflower seeds break ground after 6 days germination, very exciting . Repoted my Christmas tree and planted some basil seeds with the kids.

            • So we went to the lottie - now called Lu Lu!
The beds were all dug over in Oct/Nov so we were covering them with all the plastic sheet they gave us....
              So.....
there I am short and rotund lugging a huge sheet of plastic.....
Left boot stood on a bit of woof - right boot caught the end of it......
slammed down onto slabs with my right knee (the leg I shattered in 7 places 10 years ago) whilst still clinging to the plastic...
in a moment of perfect balance I remained there until...
my top half decided it was fed up and kneeled me forward.....
I ended up with my nose buried in one bit of bed, a trapped (with the other end of the dangerous but short piece of wood) right nipple squidged onto the concrete.....and I still held the plastic....
to make matters worse while I was howling about my knee, nipple, nose (you decide) I toppled over sideways and ended up with my bare bum (old leggings had split) warming up an extensive area of an uncovered bed.
Mr Lump managed to haul my now damaged bits and bobs up out of the dirt and suggested coffee!

I'm going back tomorrow please say a prayer, incantation, or inform the emergency services for me,,,,
now off to soak knee, nipple, nose and recently discovered elbow graze in the bath.

                      • Knee is now quackered. To try and fix all my breaks I had a succession of tibial nails (long metal rod, inside the bone from knee to ankle) plus a frightening amount of screws shoved in to hold the bones togather. Each time they operated they opened my knee up so I am a little concerned at the moment because I seem to have the ability to make like a stork and bend my knee backwards. Hey Ho no Lu Lu for me tomorrow!
