  • Lots of lovely broadies. Unfortunately I made a broad bean, mint and yoghurt soup out of them and it tasted meh

p.s. I forced the soup down anyway - was not going to waste my broadies!

    • Ooh, and have been eating globe artichokes now for a couple of weeks. Mmm. Roobob and goosegogs also. Harvested my overwintered Japanese and red onions and my garlic and they look great - quite a decent size (unusual for me). Will defo overwinter stuff again as my spring planted onions look pathetic in comparison. It does seem to work well to overwinter some broadies then plant more in the spring for a nice continuous supply. Means you can follow the first lot on with leeks or brassicas, at least that's what I'm planning. Sorry, I'm rambling. It's late. Night, all.

            • Spring greens, last of (I know I keep saying it but have uprooted this time) WSB, beetroot, broadbeans, redcurrants.
No matter:the allotment is lovely, the tadpoles have legs, my sea kale has germinated and I am glad to be home.

What do you get if you divide the circumference of a pumpkin by its diameter?

                      • From the greenhouse yesterday, first sweet pepper "King of the North", first tomatoes "Alicante" and "Gigante Liscio".

From the allotment, another cabbage "Golden Acre", a little cauli "All The Year Round", a handful of strawberries, the first few fruits of raspberry "Glen Ample", a handful of carrots "Early Nantes 2", lots of dwarf french bean "Aquilon" covered in blackfly, overwintered onions "T&M First Early" that are affected by white rot or two small to bother storing (these will get chopped and frozen in the next day or so). Also a big bunch of flowers (sweet peas, cosmos, godetia, dahlias, rudbeckias, zinnias and some fennel foliage) now in four vases around the house.
