        • Saturday - a lot of small marrows that had been growing whilst my back was turned (last time I looked they were tiny courgettes!). However it forced me into courgette creativity and generosity to the neighbours - both of which are good. Also 3 cucumbers and a handful of 'snack' peas. Lifted one root of Pink Fir Apple potatoes - disappointing. Leave them a bit longer. Lifted the onions too. They are in the glass shed drying off a bit. Still very few ripened tomatoes - this is ridiculous.

          • Lots of beautiful sugar snap peas, some more radish, lettuce and cucumber for packed lunches and a few more courgettes which I lightly pickled for tea - delicious!! The courgette plants seem to have sprung back into action after 3 or 4 weeks of seemingly nothing!

            • Beautiful Cara potatoes, strawberries and loads of tomatoes, lettuce and scallions.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

                • My first ever batch of French beans. These are the Purple Teepee. I lightly steamed them and we had them with dinner. Yum!

                      • Dug up all my spuds on main section. International Kidney came in at 28lb and Desiree came in at 10lb. Neighbours already had some of the spuds and we have had a couple of jackets spuds for tea. They were very nice

No matter:the allotment is lovely, the tadpoles have legs, my sea kale has germinated and I am glad to be home.
