    • The biggest toms.

Picked loads of tomatoes today but these four are the biggest, all growing in pots outdoors.

        • Another batch of assorted beans. There are runners, dwarf French, and assorted climbing French.

I also picked a couple more courgettes, which will be going in a big pot of chilli tomorrow.

          • Lots of runner beans and purple climbing beans. A very large courgette that I hadn't noticed since getting back from holiday plus 3 red outdoor tomatoes and 1 small outdoor cucumber. Also harvested a couple of dozen ripe Victoria plums.

            • Yesterday - cucumbers, tomatoes (at last they are ripening), runner beans, courgettes, radish and lettuce. And I picked a couple of Katy apples that are almost ripe ... certainly ripe enough for me to eat - I like them 'tart'!

              • Blackberries, destined for a crumble (kid's favourite) and a batch of wine (currently enjoying the 2014 vintage).
Courgettes (really need to grow fewer next year as we have a mega-glut)

                        • Courgettes, peas, PSB (which is trying to go to seed at the moment), lettuce, and also dug up my first maincrop potato plant. Really pleased with the potato (Cara) - no sign of any slug damage and miraculously no blight yet either.

On the downside, still not a single ripe tomato.

                            • The first two tomatoes! Hooray. Looks like there are more starting to ripen now too. Finally. Those tomatoes (Shirley) were delicious.
I also picked an assortment of runner and French beans ready for dinner tonight.

                              • A confession from my brother.

We were both given packets of 'Black Russian' tomato seeds in our crackers at Christmas and a competition was hatched. He was streets ahead of me - turns out the wonder tomatoes he's been growing and a completely different variety from shop bought plants....

A confession was inevitable as they have just started ripening to a tell-tale red (not black...)
