        • Had a long weekend this weekend, and we have spent most of it at the plot, or in the conservatory sowing and transplanting seeds.

The first big job that I got done was to build some new compost bins, the ones currently on the plot are just full of rubbish and I thought it would be easier to start from scratch and sort the old ones out at a later date.

The second big job on the list was to adjust the height of the water tank so that you can get a watering can underneath the tap! It was roughly a third full so I had to drain about 400 litres before I shifted it, I managed to save about 250 litres I think.

The next task is to get the guttering sorted, I just need to get a couple of parts to finish it off.

Whilst I was busy sorting these my wife planted a couple of fruit trees and made a circular bed for herbs, as well as clearing some of the acres of carpet that are on the plot (Think the previous tenant must have had shares in Asxminster ot something!)

Today we finished off the weekend by transplanting some onions from pots (not sure if it will work, they were extra ones from the autumn sets we got last year so we thought we would try it rather than waste them). We already have some in a small bed at home so its not a great loss if they dislike the move!

We also planted some spuds (Pentland Javelin first earlies) Possibly a bit early for them to go in, but they went in nice and deep (about 1 foot) so hopefully they are safe from any frosts.

Now were are going to visit the local hostelry for some grub and a well earned pint!

                • March photos taken immediately after the solar eclipse on the 1st day of Spring

Not much changed - some woodchip on a few more paths, daffs in flower, 3 small fruit trees have been moved - but you wouldn't realise any of this from the photos.
Starting to look a bit greener - April should be a lot different

                          • Little late uploading the photos. We managed to put the pop up greenhouse up in between painting the hall. Both off this week hoping to get the glass out off the greenhouse cleaned and stored away and move the metal frame. Hoping to reuse the bricks it's currently sitting on.
Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

                            • All the beds are prepped for the new season, and the shallots are now in the ground. In the shed we have potatoes chitting and have sown broad beans, peas and tomatoes and a few sweet peas. Not really a lot to photograph so I've taken a few pics of the fruit beds, lots of swelling buds there!

From my manure skip vantage point:

                                During the month I have:

                                - prepped all the beds and fed with blood fish and bone
                                - worked out how to make the netting tunnel stand up to the rigours of the weather; and promptly moved it to a different bed to protect the carrots (yet to be sown)
                                - rigged up temporary netting protection for the cabbages
                                - started to dig and weed the plot frontage
                                - had a good clear up

                                - Sowed leeks, sweet peas and broad beans at home
                                - Planted half a bed of red/yellow shallots
                                - planted the first and second early spuds (lady cristl, arran pilot, charlotte and wilja)

                                - picked kale
