There seems to be surprisingly little progress happening here, probably because of the rather cold nights we are stilll having.

    From the back bedroom window

A little bit of green now appearing on the clematis

    From the lawn, facing south

Veggiemesh back on the cage and pots of carrots sown inside.

From the lawn facing north east

Peas now planted against the netting, protected with plastic

With my back to the garage wall

A few more troughs of seedlings

    From the south east corner

catch crops (lettuce, turnips, mizuna) under the raised fleece, plastic cover on the cold frame.

      • Been busy over the last few weeks, hopefully the pictures below show some progress!

We have double dug most of the beds that we manured when we first set them up a month or so back, it is amazing how much work the frosts and the worms have done. Think that the last crop that was grown on our plot was either twitch or rocks...

We have got all our spuds in now and have plenty of seedlings in the conservatory which should hopefully be ready to be planted in a couple of weeks.

We have covered some of the plot so we can concentrate on getting some plants in, hopefully we can clear the area under the pond liner in a few weeks time

We have also been given a tree, think it is a pear but not too sure, will have to double check...

It was nice to have some good weather at the plot, in fact it were crackin' flags!

Finally feels like we are getting somewhere, we may even get a harvest this year, which is something that we weren't expecting.

            • April 2015, I feel like lots of progress has been made since I got the keys 2 months ago!
I have raspberry canes, a strawberry patch, spuds are in, carrots, parsnips, leeks, onions, spinach and beetroot have been sown direct, cucumber and lavender are germinating on my kitchen windowsill, all that's left to dig are the beds for the tomatoes, peas and cucumbers

I've included a 'before' photo too. Really chuffed with how it's looking now!

              • Not a huge amount of visible difference, even though I've spent plenty of time out there. Next month will be very different though...

                • March and April

                  Hello everyone,

It's been a busy couple of months down the plot starting things off on my new plot. I missed posting here in March so here is Feb (the starting point), March, and April. Making lots of mistakes and learning a lot.

I find this forum a little complicated to use, with the images all loading separately in other windows! Anyone here use wordpress? I've started an allotment blog there, if anyone is interested: allotted.wordpress.com

I think there's going to be a big difference between April and May, can't wait to see everything burst into leaf!

                  • Newleaf - when you reply "Go advanced" . Second line of icons, 6th from the right is the "Insert Image" icon. Select it and follow the instructions.
On a positive note, all your photos were the right way up

                    • Thanks Veggiechicken. You still have to click on images to view them though, even when inserted inline, right? Or is it just my Mac?

Would you also happen to know how I can edit my profile? I've tried but get a message saying I don't have the rights.

Sorry to bung up the thread with technical questions! I haven't found a help page to ask them yet

                      • Some users put up full size pics - there's an explanation somewhere - by Kristen. I'll see if I can find it.
As for your profile, some new members can and some can't. Technical glitch. It should be OK once you've made a few more posts.

                          • Thanks for that link, Veggiechicken, Kristen had the same questions as I have. There doesn't seem to be a way to embed images, and beyond that, for me I don't see any thumbnails, just 'image001.jpg' for example. It makes the reading experience very disjointed, wish I could see pictures inline. Oh well!
