Recommended Main Crop Potatoes

I grew pink fir apple as well last year and despite knowing that they were oddly shaped before planting, got a bit of a shock when i started digging them up. Ugly looking things! They seemed to be much more attractive to the local small slug population too and cleaning then prior to cooking is a pain in the posterior. I would need a really good reason to grow them again...

We just wash ours before cooking. If you need to peel them then that would be a chore.

Grew Int Kidney, disappointing crop, also Sarpo Mira in 35 litre buckets, got a good crop, good size, but for some reason made terrible chips, i left them in till the new yr and wonder if they were left too long ?.

We like arran pilot for new potatoes, sarpo mira grow and crop well but not very tasty kestrel grow well and taste nice for us also kestrel seem not to be attractive to slugs and we have lots of slugs!

Sarpo Mira are great if you suffer from blight, although I don't think they are as tasty as other varieties. I also grow Wilja which make excellent chips and roasties.
