I planted some winter cauliflowers last october in my new net cage. had a look this morning and i have several cauliflowers formimg, Its the first time I have ever done them over winter and I wasn't execting any until spring. Thing is wont the frost damage them? I also have loads of savoy cabbages starting to mass up. having a cage is quite a usefull addition. last year most of my brassicas were just chewed stumps.

I planted some sprout plants once that turned into caulis, they were autumn ones though. Does seem early for spring caulis although the weather was very mild until recently. When did you sow / plant? Also what variety are they? Would suspect frost wouldn't do them much good but never had any do that, sorry.
As far as the savoys, mine are always hearted up by winter for eating over winter, not come across a spring variety.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

The cauliflowers were "All year round" the savoys were plug plants from marshalls cant remember the variety.
The curds seem rather open at the moment maybe they will fill up into huge curds or just stay open. I to pull leaves over the summer ones to protect the curds from the sun but i dont think I will be needing that therapy right now However maybe it could help keep frost off.
Thanks for the replies.photo album of my garden in my profile http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...my+garden.html
