I grew a bunch of ferlines last year along with many other varieties of Tom's and I have to say I was a little bit disappointed.
last year the rate of blight infection for all varieties of toms was much lower than it was in previous years, yet the ferline toms still managed to get infected at the same rate as the rest.. add to that the taste was nothing particularly special, I don't think i'll be growing these again.
It's important to note that ferline toms are described as being 'blight tolerant' and not resistant. Meaning it will still get infected from blight but will presumably be able to still grow well despite that. As I Said though, Didn't notice any difference compared to my other non tolerant varieties.
This crimson crush type would appear to be the first 'blight resistant' one I've seen, so I'll definitely give this a go.
