Hyssop and Tansy Question

I've been looking at hyssop and tansy as an aid for cabbage whites etc but have found very contradictary info about them.
Some sites say that they are sacrificial plants and that their high scent attracts the whites away from brassica's and some say that their aroma repel whites from brassica's.
Any ideas?

Forget it. The only way to deter cabbage whites is by covering your crop with small mesh netting, held down at the sides to stop the little beggars going underneath. Insects are not as stupid as some people imagine.

Grown both before for their insect repelling properties but never heard of them repelling cabbage whites. Hyssop did not repel anything and got eaten constantly by a variety of wee blighters. Still grow tansy but be careful as some people get a skin reaction after touching the leaves and it's poisonous

I've never noticed any effect on cabbage whites from my hyssop- the bees like it, but nothing seemed to eat mine bar me, and I had a splendid caterpillar crop on the brassicas nearby.

Bacillus thuringiensis is supposed to be safe for organic gardening even, available as `fungus gnat off` from hydroponics shops in the UK, dilute and spray leaves, dipel dust ( dry form ) is available most of the world but not in the UK.
Bacillus thuringiensis is the active bacteria in both, dipel works so i assume the fungus gnat off does as well being the same
