Peas/mangetout

Have had bad germination inside with Sugar Lord peas. Am growing them in my conservatory so could be cos it has been so cold at night. Or praps planted too deep???
Want to plant some outside soon, but have no paraffin to soak seeds in to deter mice, has anyone got any alternative anti-mice ideas. They eat the whole row soooo fast....

I grow sugar lord and I think it is too early for them, I would suggest under cover in a propagator from late april, preferably early may onwards. They really don't like it when it's cold amd gloomy.

Have just been reading the old 1970's bound Grow your own Set that I bought on eBay this week and it recommends a mouse trap at each end of the covered cloche the peas or beans are in. The picture shows a baited trap to kill the mice but I am sure you could use a humane trap if you prefer.

Hi Lollarossa, I would wait until the weather gets a little warmer and start thrm in deep potd, loo rolls or root trainers and when they have germinated and got their first set of leaves, then plant them out.
