My picasso maincrop spuds have been great in previous years, but seriously slug damaged this year. I'm therefore looking for a replacement main crop that will give good bakers - any thoughts?

Sorry Hazel but IMO slug damage will happen on any variety, can you get rid of the slugs? I have it easy because my containers are on concrete and I can use the pellets of death around the base of the containers.Potty by name Potty by nature.

I had no slug damage at all in my containers last year - on my garden path. I'm guessing there will be some this year with those I try in the ground. But I do go out in the warmer months when things are growing with a torch and dispatch the trouble makers I find.
According to variety databases some are more resistant to slugs than others but icebox practical experience on that.Last edited by Snow; 05-02-2015, 02:24 PM.

Yeah,t hey just look a bit of a mess. Left in the ground, though, for prolonged period and the slugs will keep eating them until not much/enough left to salvageK's Garden blog the story of the creation of our garden
