It was Nero Di Toscana. They didn't grow well last spring/summer either though. I'm a bit of a noob - do I need to harvest the leaves at all?

Hi planted kale twice for the past two years and have had a bumper crop from both march and may planting. Cavalo Nero and Scarlet kale are brilliant with good harvests commencing from October and still going strong now until at least April.

Only problems from this planting time was white fly as it has not been cold/frosty to kill them off however the plants are now clear and the picking of new short shoots are to die for cooked or added into a nutri bullet with fruit for a drink, happy gardening

That's a lovely variety, one I always grow although it isn't as vigorous as some of the curly types. What do you mean about harvesting the leaves? I just pull off when I want a meal but always make sure I don't totally decimate an individual plant.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
