my courgettes were doing fine, but. As the flowers die off and the courgettes develop to about 3ich long and are starting to fill out the end start to go black and powdery.

It's the weather - too wet. Take the flowers off as soon as they start to die off. You can cut and use the courgettes as small as you like. Hopefully you'll get better results with the next lot of flowers.

I know it is wet and soggy at the moment but these are in the green house, would they better in the open where there is some movement of air ?

Not enough ventilation, and make sure you don't get water on the foliage and flowers. Water the compost.

I find they do much better outside Killjoy, in an open sunny position. They don't seem to like the humidity in the greenhouse in wet weather. Hope your next lot of flowers produces better results.

I have been having exactly the same problem but since I have left the greenhouse door open they have really improved.
