From time to time I've had furry growth on seedlings where (I guess) it has been too damp, but this morning I noticed that my labels are going furry. Will this spread to the seedlings as they emerge (just started germinating)?
The seeds are in coir plugs in an unheated prop in the living room. Daytime temp is about 20 degrees and at night they get bubblewrapped as it may fall to 14. This is the way I've done it for the last four years with no real problems and the only change this year is the wooden rather than plastic labels. (lolipop sticks)
Seed are tomatoes, chillies, aubergines, celery, peppers, tomatillo.
The mould is blue at the centre and has long sticky strands - just like the stuff on my emmental
I've taken the lids off today to dry them out a bit, although they don't seem to be too damp, with little moisture on the lids and no standing water in the trays. Indeed I was checking to see if they needed water when I noticed the fluffy stuff.
Thanks!
