Raised Beds Layout

I have raised beds on my Allotment. I spent some time changing them round in January but can't decide which way would be more practical. The way I have done them at the moment means I need to spend some extra money on them in order to stop them bowing but if they are more practical I will spend some money on them. Opinions please



What it was before - 2 square beds and 2 longish beds



What it is now - 2 long beds either side of the Greenhouse

How about driving a square post into the ground, half way along each side. That could do a lot to prevent the plastic bowing.

You'll obviously need to fix that upper layer to the lower layer as well: maybe a post driven into the ground inside each corner and screw the plastics to that? (not sure about the plastic shattering though).

It relies on getting some cheap tannalised timber though.

Dont spend money on them, no need

Just get hold of some pallets for wood, break them up into strips of wood and put points on the end to make stakes to support them in the middle to stop the bowing.

Drive the stakes into the ground halfway along the beds and screw the frame into in.

Totally agree with Maverick. But will add, try and get hold of the long type of pallet. They are so much easier to get to come apart than the square ones. You also have the benefit of the pallet supports being a good size to make the corner posts with.
