  • Nettle & Comfrey tea

    I'm confused

Do you use nettle or comfrey teas at different times during the growing season, or are they basically the same thing.

If they are not the same thing then when do I use each one? help

I use comfrey for fruiting stuff (toms, courgettes etc) and nettles for greens (cabbages etc)

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Thanks for the reminder, due to my me/cfs I have a dreadful memory, so apologise if I have asked things before

I thought people often mixed them both together to get a kind of multipurpose thingy? Is that the wrong thing to do then? My comfrey should be big enough this year to harvest so want to make sure I get it right!

As has been said above. You can mix them as general feed but it's just as easy to keep them separate and if you think something's leaves need a boost as well as its fruit just give it a bit of both!

PS. I just don't have enough time to say hello to everyone as they join so please take this as a delighted to see you here!

Going to have a go with nettle tea for the first time in the next couple of days as it smells ready.

Been looking around and Im still not sure how to go about it apart from 1/10 measure to water. Ive read here about comfrey for toms/fruiting plants nettle for leafies. Are there any hard and fast rules?

                  - on the ground or on the plant? both?
                  - what about fruit trees like peach, plum and apple? leaves or ground? both?
                  - how often?

I think my bush toms leaves could do with a boost.

I use an old tin can as a measure, just add it to a 10 ltr watering can. It works for both teas and I've never had any problem with that strength of mix.
