What's lurking in your seed box?

I instigated a massive and brutal seed decimation in January, expelling all lurkers, dupes, charlatans, eccentrics, potential long term homeless, exotics, ageing, and downright untrustworthy. I banished them (over 70 packets) to a temporary concentration shoebox, then sent them packing to a local schools growing project, where they'll have to fend for themselves.

It all felt a bit right-wing, but it had to be done.

There are many, but pakchoi is my unusual veg. found few more veg seeds in kitchen drawer bought 3 years ago, but they are on my most wanted list

want to stop sowing veg seeds by next week, any suggetions of flower seeds to be sown by this week ?

Amarnaths I used to throw them on the ground when it is sunny. but this week I have sown few in modules , lets see how fast/slow they germinate.

The trick with Pak Choi is to sow it after mid summer, otherwise it does bolt. I eat mine when it has 4 leaves in the spring, as baby leaf in salads. If you can keep the slugs off it its one of those crops (like mizuna) that can keep you in fresh greens in winter.

Yes, I sow mine in Aug for a GH crop

Confession time again

I have a box of unusual veggie seeds that I have never grown. The box is opened, the seed packets pulled out and read, then they go back in the box Somehow, I keep making excuses not to grow them. Maybe its not the right time of year, I don't know enough about their requirements, there isn't a suitable place or its raining and I want another coffee.

In my box there's Perilla, Orache, Amaranth/callaloo and tree spinach. There are others but I can only confess to so much at a time!

Can you persuade me to grow any of these this year? Am I missing out on a real taste experience?

Do you have any veg seeds that you just never get round to sowing? Don't let me be the only one with this guilty secret

Onions and tomatoes here. Every time I go to Spain I come back with packets of seeds. There are so many in the packet that they last for ever and then I dont have enough space to sow them all.

My problem is that if feel guilty not sowing ALL of the seeds in a pack! It's ridiculous how much stuff I sow, the chickens benefit greatly!

I seem to collect squash seeds. At best I only have room for a max of 2 plants, but the lure of the seed packets is hard to resist, especially when reduced to 50p in the autumn. Maybe one day I'll have space to grow the lot.

Just sowed three differing types of dwarf french beans today and one type of spring cabbage. Spring Hero ball head spring cabbage will be sown at the end of the month and then bring on the mooli,broad beans and various Jap onions planting fest.
With the various brassica seedling I have waiting in the wings it looks like its going to be a busy time.
