So thrilled with my carrot yesterday that I forgot the new potatos- they were lovely!
Gooseberries today- not really ready but need to set jam.
No matter:the allotment is lovely, the tadpoles have legs, my sea kale has germinated and I am glad to be home.

                Blackcurrants, a small bowl full.

Not enough for jam but plenty to flavour a batch of mead (Hic)

I've picked my first radish, lettuce, carrots, peas, potatoes and spring onions in the past week. The carrots were titchy but sooo sweet ... just enough for hubby and me!

Carrots today, the ones I sowed in February in doors in a small put before pricking out and transplanting outside. First ones of the year. Just had them with a pork dinner. Got some more straight in where these ones came up from.

They weren't that big to be honest (I can never seem to get carrots to grow big) but they were nice.

                          • Rhubarb. It's planted in a shady corner, so a bit slow growing
Froze most of it - got a shelf in the freezer filled with strawberries. So this years jam will be all home grown.
Did pick out 4 tender pink stems, cooked and ate them. Delicious

                              • Garlic. It hadn't split into cloves and was still fairly small, but did ok to go in last night and tonight's dinner. I've left the others in hoping for a bit more growth as their greens are bigger and more sturdy.
