My first young spring cabbage-seedlings planted 12th April. An experiment that has got me thinking- It had some nice big but tender leaves and a tiny heart but was delicious. Might plant another lot close together in a small bed and crop like that. Would be good as winter greens in greenhouse I suspect
No matter:the allotment is lovely, the tadpoles have legs, my sea kale has germinated and I am glad to be home.

Just dug my first new potatoes of the year. Red Duke of York, planted on the 23rd March. Couldn't resist having a poke about this afternoon and have enough for tea off one plant.

First batch of cut and come again lettuce big enough to do anything with this morning - it's going in my sandwiches at lunch.

Holding off on my very first pea pod though, it's not quite ready, might get it tonight if the sun holds.

Emptied my first potato bag that started off in the utility room. My 2 year old daughter was amazed and excited as she found each one! Great fun!
