They need a lot of space - perhaps even as much as 2'6" plant-to-plant. That limits how many I grow.

I grow 10 plants, my 12 year old grandson can eat a dinner plate piled high with it. He also loves the winter cauliflowers that are about to mature now.

Just spotted the first of my purple sprouting broccoli. Delighted as I've been growing it since last June.

Mine took a long time, was meant to be ready Nov, but got it March.

10 plants wow that's a lot, I would have a freezer full! We have been eating twice/three times a week and can't keep up just off the couple that survived.

P.s last night we had a wonder parmesan and goats cheese with white sprouting broccoli pasta bake. It was gorgeous, just in case inspires anyone
I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them

              Just harvested my first lot.
              118 grams.
Having them in a stir-fry in a moment.

                Mine is going mad now

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

When you harvest it do you get more broccoli sprouting from where you harvested? Is there a certain way to harvest it?

This is my first time growing it so everything with it is new to me.

Shocked Christmas morning when I went to allotment for brussels and endive to find a stray and small psb in mixed bed with a proper head and a mass of sproutings around it. A very unexpected present. Have found a few more since. My main planting is just starting to show main heads, possibly ready in a week or two? White sprouting started aweek ago.
I have to admit I am with the lashings of butter fraternity and perhaps a grating of parmesan.
No matter:the allotment is lovely, the tadpoles have legs, my sea kale has germinated and I am glad to be home.

I'm just growing loads of everything this year.
We have a Nigerian family opposite us with six (incredibly tall) kids. They all love their veggies so much more than my kids I'm ashamed to say and welcome any amount of gluts!

It's very liberating to know in advance that you have a welcome home for bin liners full of excess veg!

Is this ready for harvesting yet? Or is it still a little way away from being ready?
