Chilli No-Show

Do you remember a short while back there was a chilli seed offer that lots of us went for?

Well I got a mixed pack of sweet pepper seeds and another of cherry bomb chillis.
I sowed them on 7th March in a heated prop, along with some physalis.
A week or so later, all the physalis were up and moved out of the heated prop. One sweet pepper also germinated...but that's it.
zero germination on the chillis and only one out of twelve for the sweet peppers.

Could be an issue with the prop, it is very old, but I've always found physalis to be more fussy and they are doing great!

So, how long should I give them before oiking them out and starting from scratch?
and how did you all get on with those 'free' seeds? (I bought one packet and got the other free)

Would this be the 'chilli farm of Norfolk'? I sowed 5 each of the sweet and the hot a couple of days before my viability seeds (will have to check date) and I have had one sweet pepper germinate

Yes it was...I hesitated to say in case it was only me having problems.
Not looking good though is it?

I put my chillies in about 5 weeks ago. all were up within 7 days except facing heaven (VSP - old seeds) still no show so I'm binning them now. BUT I've had habaneros and some super hots take nearly a month...I save Cape gooseberries, I've always found them easy to germinate.

Using an unheated propagator placed near a radiator I usually get germination in 14-21 days.

It's all been a bit rubbish this year, but that might be my fault for using seed for its third season. That said, some varieties have never germinated.

I don't want to derail the topic - but can you tell me your secret please? I've had no luck at all with physalis.

No I bought these of a spanish seller on ebay.

youre probably right - dud seeds.

At least you got your seeds, after three attempts they still couldn't get them to me I wouldn't touch them ever
