Some of my onion seedlings seem to be drying out and dying. Now they have enough water and are on the window cill so have plenty of light. Anyone got any ideas as to what some of the common causes of this could be?

The initial leaf often yellows and dies back and further leaves develop. That looks fine to me (and miles ahead of me), I can only see on sickly looking onion there. Good luck teasing them apart...

To be honest, some of them have completely died and I have removed them from the pots altogether so aren't in that picture. Perhaps I am just worrying over nothing though as most of them are doing ok. I'll see how they go over the coming weeks.
Yeah, they are a little over crowded but I grew some in exactly the same way last year and had great success. Separating them, you've just got to be very careful.
And yes, I'll add my location to my profile.Last edited by Scoot; 25-03-2015, 12:09 PM.

I grow one per cell ... not sure they would do with that many in a cell, but I've never tried it to know for sure.K's Garden blog the story of the creation of our garden
