  • Christmas day veg?

    Hi Folks,

What should I be sowing now to insure veg on my plate on Christmas day?

    What varieties?

We have a saying....if its not on the plot it's not going on the plate! We did really well last year, but would like to try and do better!
    Thanks lots

    Headfry,

    I am doing/have done the following :

Already in the ground I have :

    Sprouts (F1 Brigitte)
Parsnips (Albion) although not germinated well at all..
Main Crop Spuds (Cara for me)

I have already or will be soon planting for Christmas :

Curly Kale (Nero Di Toscana Precoce)
    Leeks (Albana)
    Swede (Ruby)
Christmas Pots (next month I believe although I've not tried before)
    Purple Sprouting Broccoli (cant remember)
    Cabbage (Traviata)
Carrots, although you may need to store rather than harvest at xmas.

    In the Freezer :

    Broad Beans
    Peas

How big are your Christmas plates The above will see me through...

Also seasonal is Celeriac, Red Cabbage, Green Cabbage

An onion can make people cry but there's never been a vegetable that can make people laugh.
