I had tem covered with fleece. Absolutley nothing has come up except the baby leeks and they are sparse. All no older than 2-3 years. I just never seem to have success at most things, even when done as they should be. Gutted :-(

Personally I don't think onion seeds keep very well. I alway have a problem with salad onions if they aren't fresh seed. I also think starting off indoors during early Spring where the temperature is a little more consistent gives better results.

I don't have much luck with "older" onion seeds either. Slightly longer shelf life than parsnips, but not much.

You could do a viability test. Put a few seeds on some damp kitchen paper in a plastic box somewhere warm and they should sprout in a fairly short while. That will tell you if the seeds are viable. If they are sow a few more and don't keep them too wet, then be patient.

          Best of luck.
