Elfe potatoes seed?

I've just had Sunday lunch with mashed potatoes from the Supermarket.

I commented to OH that they were delicious and having checked found they are called Elfe.
I've had a look online and Tesco's seem to be the sole supplier. Apparently in a taste test of 100 spud varieties these came out top...........and I can certainly see why!

Just wondered where I can get some seed tatties of this variety?

If like Jersey Royals they are picked whilst immature they will never grow. Likewise if they are treated to stop side shoots, they will never grow!

I would rather have proper seed tatties in this instance!

They may not be. I don't fancy bunging them on the kitchen windowsill though just for them to shrivel and die rather than sprout. I will if i have to though

It depends how long they've been dormant. They have to rest for quite a while after being dug up (6 weeks rings a bell?) before they start to sprout.

Aparently, they're Albert Bartlett spuds. I've grown AB Apache from a supermarket, successfully - chitted no probs.

I've tried before with Jersey Royals. They are a maincrop tattie lifted early for to catch the markets and to make sure they don't get too big. Because they are dug up immature they won't sprout, they just shrivel up and die.

The Elfe's are being sold as baking potatoes so, if they are immature, you'd need a big saucepan when they were mature.
