Harvested my first potatoes of 2015!

Well actually I found some in last year's compost (but I got your attention)!

I grow my spuds in bags and keep the spent compost for topping up my raised beds the following year - I was using some today and found a few escapees still in great condition considering they've taken a real soaking over the winter!

Has anyone else found any escapees from previous years growing?

All the time. Just Dug a bed that had Squash in it last year, potatoes year before. Found three about the size of a small marble.

First year I had the plot there were volunteers all over the shop and I would be disappointed not to have some emerging from the compost heap...

I check my containers pretty thoroughly, but this year I am also growing in the ground and I expect I'll end up with some volunteers next year. So long as you didn't have disease the year before, I say make the most of them!
