Firstly please excuse my ignorance! I'm growing cauliflowers for the first time.. or at least that's what I've planted. But I don't think that's what has come up. They are tall with mid-green leaves (12" long) that are deeply lobed and prickly / hairy (!). They don't look a thing like caulis, but before I dig them up, please could someone confirm that they are not! Many thanks!

Did you buy them as young plants or did you sow the seed yourself ? I have to agree that from your description they don't sound like any cauliflowers I know. Could you post a photo and then we might be able to identify what you haveRat

Welcome Comfrey. If you planted the caulies yourself presumably they would be in a (reasonably) straight line. If they were weeds in the soil they would be all over the place. Can you post a pic so we can see what is going on.
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

HI Comfrey and welcome to the vine.
They don't sound like caulis to me either. Caulis are a brassica so the leaves are reminiscent of cabbage or spring greens.
A photo would be useful if you can get one on the thread. They may be useful rather than just something to dig up and you wouldn't want to miss out on a freebie would youBright Blessings

If at first you don't succeed, open a bottle of wine.
