Do you prefer the Big ones?

There they are, lined up in front of you and you have to choose.

Your hand reaches out, you hesitate for a second, pull your hand back and move on to the next one. Sadly, it just doesn't appeal to you today. So much more effort involved. Maybe tomorrow you'll be ready for one of the smaller ones.

Ooooh, what about this one? This is much bigger; look at the size of that! This one will be a pleasure to handle...............

My question is - do we all prefer to sow large seeds and leave the smaller fiddly ones for another day?

A garden full of beans and peas, courgettes and squashes seems very appealing when faced with a packet of fiddly little carrot seeds!

I can't really say I've paid that much attention to size, with one glaring exception. You only attempt to sow parsnips on a windy day once....

The bigger the better IMO

If they're small they might be weak specimens, when something with stamina is what you need

I sowed oregano seeds a few weeks ago. The smallest I've ever seen. That's the very tip of a toothpick/cocktail stick in the photo. Trying to sow one at a time was a right laugh

i tend to put too many in if the seeds are very small and then cull the extras when they're up.I can't stand the faffing about with really tiny seeds and if you are a seedaholic ,like me,the chances are you are not short of the more common varieties and are unlikely to run out.big or rare seeds I take more care with ,but in general the size is less important than the season,most of us are short of time and are worried that we will sow too late,which in my case inspires a seed sowing frenzy at the first oppurtunity

The bigger the better and that goes for seeds as well.
On a serious point I don't see too well so bigger seeds are more likely to end up where they are supposed to.

On onion sets I find (found) it better to sow the smaller healthy looking ones.
The bigger ones may have grown sufficent to have registered their present growth as year 1, so then decide they are in their second year and so go to seed instead of producing a sizeable onion.

I say (found) as I have more or less given up on onions.

I'm afraid to say that the big seeds get more room as I find it easier to plant them individually. The smaller seeds get a big pot and then just sprinkle them in with a rough guess at how many I have just put in.
Use to get the kids to sprinkle the seeds for me but they just chucked the whole packet in the pot and if I wasn't watching them it could be two packets in one pot.
