The problem with Mizuna and Mesclun is that they are Brassica's and the Butterflys and their caterpillars absolutely adore them

Hugely underrated! The taste is an acquired one, but quite addictive once you get into it.

It grows readily, anyone can do rocket! The only tip I would give is not to sow it all at once. Stagger sowings so you get an ongoing supply of fresh rocket, and pick young.

I've never successfully grown it on the lotty, too many pests, but right now I'm harvesting enough for a sandwich every day, from the greenhouse. Mustard leaves and nasturtium too. Just pick off individual leaves

Didn't get a single leaf outside in allotment - awful flea beetle last year- but fantastic all winter in greenhouse. I also grew mixed. Flea beetles have already started where I am so will keep some going in greenhouse but I think that I have heard keeping beds moist deters them so might try a few outside.
No matter:the allotment is lovely, the tadpoles have legs, my sea kale has germinated and I am glad to be home.

I sowed radish seed about 1ft away from my rocket in the ground (in pots they were struggling) the radish being a trap crop, the flea beetles love it,what I should've done, was to wave a sticky trap over the plants,or treacle on some card but I didn't do anything, just left them with the radish,I've probably got a garden full of them now. But the rocket was barely touched

My end point with rocket is that wild rocket simply maintains itself, so I now have a permanent rocket patch. Only slightly nibbled by flea beetle.

Mizuna hasn't done me so well. Rather flavourless and bolts very quickly.

If you sow it very thinly it doesn't bolt quite as quickly - it doesn't like being crowded apparently.
What do you get if you divide the circumference of a pumpkin by its diameter?

Great idea and also the fleagles don't eat the radish itself-win,win!

I sow mizuna indoors, prick out into individual pots or modules and plant out when a couple of inches tall. It bolts quite quickly if sown in spring, but lasted all winter long when sown in August and only started bolting in April. I pulled the plants out yesterday.

I'm thinking about growning it in troughs or big pots, is this a good idea? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Found this homebase product excellent. I know it's cheating having the seed on a tape but lovely straight lines, no thinning out - perfect for beginner! Enjoy !
