Garlic stem diameter??

Strange but so long since I had what I would call a half reasonable garlic crop, but what is a reasonable diameter for the stem of a reasonable garlic?

Just at present one row seems to be doing well and I am just not sure how well and am I convincing myself that they are going to be good/better then previous. Certainly look healthy and better then the others and from memory better then previous.

If good this time round I may have a suitable answer to what to go buy to grow in future years.

If you mean current stem diameter as opposed to stem diameter when cropping we would need to know if they were Autumn or Spring planted
