Hi Lottie, yes they all have seeds from the same packet. At the risk of spoiling the experiment, it would have been rude of me not to answer your second question so I gently had a peek, I was surprised to see no roots which tells me that the roots must be living in the moisture between the Tape & Kitchen Roll as they would when chitting seeds.

How things change in a couple of hours...............

Another seedling has sprouted from the KR up.
2 seedlings have sprouted from KR down.
No seedlings yet from the folded Tape.............

just a question. I'm thinks of a good winter activity with kids to keep them busy on a very cold and wet day so do you think that if made them months in advance its okay?i know that the kitchen roll and the flour trick could get mould if prepare too in advance but this method could work. What you think?

That's my winter activity Sarico but then again I'm just a big kid....................I've stored both the flour & water tapes & the masking tapes.

Edit: My flour & water tapes were made from strips of newspaper, not kitchen roll.

Just a quick update. The folded tape has just germinated. Have just pulled all the tapes out & noticed the ones that were half tape half kitchen Roll whether up or down, all the seedlings have worked their way out of the side hence early germination. The ones in the folded tape had to force their way through the tape hence a longer germination period...................End of experiment.

It would have to be a muscular seed to penetrate that stuff weed.
