Thankyou I wondered what that was! It was in need of a clean somehow but I didn't know how. I just used my finger & it didn't really help much as you can imagine. The tape's not very brittle so I'l try cleaning it up,did someone mention cleaning it with sandpaper once or maybe I read it somewhere else online?

Eating raw slugs?...ewwww...
Yup- I can manage cooked snails, but the thought of eating raw slugs...
I have in my mind the number of times you gave to wash and scrub your hands to get rid of the slime after touching one....imagine that in your mouth?...eww...just the thought of it is enough to put a person off their breakfast....ewwww
Starloc.....Copper turnings?...aren't they razor sharp with the potential for skin cuts whilst weeding?"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

They are quite sharp, but not bad.....it makes them better as they stab the snails a bit to get better contact because I only put them round the plants fairly close, on top of straw and sometimes mixed with bark mulch, no weeds go through the straw this year so looks like very little weeding
I only put them near to the plants as otherwise the crazy dog would tread on them as well, Its ok unless something gets his attention to them ,
i cant weed with the dog in garden so not weeding much.... no cuts for me!!!!....if i do the dog joins in and weeds the plant you are weeding round, tops off some lilies the other day, dug some potatoes up as well as i earthed them up with him in sight
Dont think swarf much of a problem close up to plants, wouldnt want it everywhereLiving off grid and growing my own food in Bulgaria.....

My concern would be how are you going to get rid of it when the plants have finished. It won't rot down with the rest of the mulch and will stay in the soil for years.
Would also be concerned for the dog's feet, unless he is unable to access the area.Last edited by Penellype; 22-05-2015, 12:20 PM.A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP. - Leonard Nimoy

PLEASE STARLOC,TELL ME THEY ONLY EAT SNAILS NOT SLUGS,!!!!!
( I can't find a smilie with a gross enough expression)
its most of the time snails.... lots and lots of snails like a garden with an inbuilt biscuit barrel!
The neighbours are teaching me what I can and `should`..... be eating !
some things are more normal like raw leeks and raw garlic dipped in salt before crunching them...that is obviously more normal but slugs and snails.....no chance!Living off grid and growing my own food in Bulgaria.....
