Hi to all. And now for a another question to this fountain of knowledge
i am growing some market more cucumbers for the firs time and i am a bit confused as to do the best thing by them. I have heard that if you don't do certain things or they will taste bitter .And also do they have to be pollinated when the flowers appear.

Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help me with this topic
i can assure you you that any information given is great fully received

    kind regards to all

Mine are growing outside against the fence that surrounds my veggie garden. As they are outside they should be pollinated by our busy friends and not be bitter.
    Just think happy thoughts

There are some fancy, indoor cucumbers that need lots of faffing with...picking male flowers and hand pollinating...

Thankfully, marketmore is not one of them!

You can pinch out the growing tip to encourage sideshoots (though I rarely bother) and feed from time to time. They quite like to scramble up something like a trellis. Keep them well watered but don't let the soil get soggy (especially near the stem). Then sit back and wait for your Qs.

I've always been amazed by cukes. They do wonderfully unexpected things. This year, the marketmore I set off in the house all germinated and looked to be doing well, then they all died suddenly. The ones I set in the unheated greenhouse are all as happy as Larry and putting some timber on. DUH! I did them last year and am sure I took the male flowers off.
