  • Potting on swede?

Ran out of room under my brassica nets today at the lotty so had to bring quite a few various brassicas home and ponder what to do. What I think is that I can pot them up into next size pots and grow them on until space becomes free or until slug or caterpillar attack means I need replacements. Will they be ok like this for a bit? My main question though is can I pot up the swedes? At the mo they're in a seed tray but are fairly big, ready to move on in any case. Will they move successfully if they start to develop in a pot? Or what would you all do? Thanks in advance for all advice.

Yes, it does work, because it's the stem that swells not the root.
Just make sure you water them and perhaps they'll need a weak liquid feed later, depending on how long they have to wait,

Are cabbage whites attracted to swedes the same as other brassicas? Anyone know please?

They don't seem to suffer quite as badly, perhaps they don't smell/taste quite the same.

If I run low on netting, and have to choose - it's the swede that I'll leave uncovered.
