  • Buttonhole 'Starmaker' Kale and Seaweed Kale?

Just ordered a packet of each of the above from D.T.Brown's seeds.

Anyone grown either and your thoughts please?

Not yet, Snadger, but I've been interested in the seaweed kale for quite a while. Just haven't been able to justify the foreign postage rate for one packet.

The Starmaker looks rather similar to ornamental cabbage, which I have some packets of seed for but haven't tried growing yet, so I don't know if it's good to eat. I've been thinking of doing some cross-breeding experiments to get some more colourful kale, but maybe that's what they did already to get the Starmaker.

I have some Seaweed kale seedlings at the mo. Too early to say much about them.

I saw the 'Starmaker' in the dtb's catalogue and might invest in sime for next year as it looks like a compact plant so will cope in the small spaces I have.
I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. Thomas A. Edison
