Not just me then, all my Chard has bolted from two sowings, half my carrots and beetroots as well. All sown May time, so guessing all those cold June nights are to blame

Some of my PSB, Early Purple, are forming heads. It's 9 months early! Maybe I sowed the seed too early (March)?

I thought they'd have plenty of room when I planted them out at the end of April:

But now here they are, to the right of the scarlet kale, with some very unhappy little cabbages struggling to escape from underneath them:

If I chop them back, will that put them back onto the right track?

Wow they are so close together Martin! I'm planting mine out this weekend and they'll be a metre apart. Maybe yours bolted because they are stressed due to competing for space and nutrients?

just been to plot and several 'red arrow' onions have bolted.

All of the 'golden ball' white onions (approx 200) are fine at the moment....

Did you buy heat treated sets CG - or am I mixing you up with someone else?

Calabrese are bolting big time. Eating broccoli 3 times a week before they start to flower. I dont mind as Im a big fan of broc and the stems are still delicious.

Is it a good idea to blanch these like Ive been told to do to a cauli?(tie the leaves up around the head, providing shade).

Not quite bolting, but ALL my plum toms have blossom end rot from underwatering I guess in all this hot weather.
But my turnips have bolted for for the first time.

It looks like one of my red celery plants is bolting.

Chinese leaf is bolting, just as it had started to really bulk-up and develop nice heads.

Pak Choi is bolting as well.

Reading about it on the net it seems that Chinese leaf is best planted for the autumn as longer daylight hours and higher temps make it bolt. I suspect the hot weather around the start of the month followed by the recent weather triggered it.

lettuce...I think I'm going to turn into one with the amount we're eating!!!!

Oh , and yes...I can confirm that lettuce is most certainly a diuretic!
