Funny wrinkly bits on cabbages

Hi can anyone tell me what's wrong with my cabbages please.



The leaves have crinkled up. There was a smudge of something on it which I washed of. It felt quite slimy

Probably cabbage aphids. Grey-green colour and very sticky, they make the young leaves curl up and then hide inside.

Do I just wash them off? I don't want to spray if I don't have to.

I squidge them between finger and thumb. Very organic. If there are loads, wash them off with a water jet then come back later and squidge the ones that are still there.
